Elysium

Elysium

$10,000.00

I named this piece Elysium after the flowing golden fields of the Roman paradise, this led to the flowing gold elements of the scroll and guard. I designed the scroll so that if it were continuous from the handle to the blade it would all flow together. Another place the “golden field” theme shows up is in the proportions of the blade, every piece of this blade is golden ratio proportionate. I decided that mammoth ivory would be the best handle material to capture the idea of eternity, remembering ancient times as well as the time to come.

The blade is 14” with 18k gold overlay on the mosaic Damascus. The hilt is 6” total and the mammoth ivory handle with spacers is 4.25”. The overall length is 20”. The weight is 21.45 oz (1.345 lb) and the balance point is 1.5” in front of the guard. The front and back spacers are matching damascus, each spacer has 1825 layers of steel. The pommel and pommel nut are the same mosaic damascus as the blade. The guard is antique wrought iron with 18k gold melted onto the floral elements. Elysium comes with a matching mammoth ivory takedown pin and deer antler for display.
